Transvaal has been a strongly disputed region of South Africa , conflict area between Dutch and UK emigrants. Republic founded in 1836 by Dutch emigrants. Ruled by Great Britain between 1877 and 1881 after the first anglo-boer war, and during the second war in 1900 (VRI Victoria Regina Imperatrix). Again independent until 1902. Merged in South Africa in 1910.
