This is it. The final match of a long, hard season and it all comes down to one match. West Ham United stand between
Manchester City
and Premier League title glory as they attempt to become the first male team in English football to win four consecutive Premier League titles.
City are two points ahead of Arsenal and victory against our friends of West Ham will guarantee the Blues a top-placed finish. Due to an inferior goal difference, a draw will not be satisfactory, unless
Everton
can hold or beat the Gunners on Sunday.
It’s set to be a tense afternoon once again and the Faithful will be hoping that City don’t give the Hammers a couple of goals start before starting to play. A little bit of spookiness for this match. In 2012, we had to rely on late goals to win the match 3-2 to win the title. Ten years later, the same happened against Villa. In 2014, City played West Ham at home on the final day when City were two points clear at the top of the table. City won 2-0. Ten years later, the Blues play West Ham again on the final day while two points clear at the top. Is it fate? Who knows.
As usual, our team are here to give us their thoughts on how this nerve-wracking final day will go.
Saul
Massive and super important match! Obvious what’s at stake and I think City will be up for the challenge. 3-1 City win.
City 3-1 West Ham
Craig
Routine win to close out a fourth consecutive league title.
City 3-0 West Ham
Once more into the fray my friends. A glorious spring day with a chance to retain the title for a record 4th time. Against the Hammers, on our patch, with everything to play for, of course I’m picking City. And I’m picking them big. No QPR 2012 or Villa 2022 vibes this time out as the Blues score early and often.
City 5-0 West Ham
Pete
Well, it’s finally here. United could have done us a favour last week, but no, just like the women’s team, the Reds passed up the chance to make it easier for us. Anyway, I’m going for a simple 2-0 win, with Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany grabbing the goals. Oh, that was 2014 wasn’t it? I think we’ll win on Sunday but not by the margins many people would like.
City 2-0 West Ham
What Happened Against Spurs
Pete’s taking full responsibility for City’s 2-0 win at Spurs on Tuesday, after correctly predicting that exact scoreline. Saul grabbed a crucial point to keep him at the top while Thomas got a little giddy and thought we’d score four.
It’s now a two-horse race between Saul and Pete and the West Ham match and the
FA Cup
Final will decide who our inaugural league winner is.
Here’s the table:
