Hi Amanda! I hope you enjoy the OE wikipedia, and make a lot of contributions! So far, as for a standard, have you seen Clark Hall's dictionary? That's essentially the standard spelling we use. There were still a few errors in there (they didn't even have computers back then!), but those were corrected at
Old English Made Easy
. It's essentially early West Saxon, not using y for i, always spelling gifan as gifan, not giefan, gyfan, etc. It makes things easier so we don't have a hundred spellings across the site, making it look sloppy. I know it's not 'real' OE without a dozen different ways to spell, but we don't use that many ways to spell 'toast', so we're kind of trained to use one spelling for one word. Luckily, Old English words are easier to pronounce by looking at them than Modern English! I'm working on a manual of style for the OE wikipedia, so check it out - there's a vote coming up on that very topic! Have fun, and write on what you like! --

Just a small attempt to spruce up the Main Page a touch. Eventually I'd like to get downright artistic with it?:) I was thinking that ivy leaves would look nice, with Runic writing behind the primary text.
