Thank you to the members of American Legion Post 86 and Boy Scouts for holding a ceremony yesterday at the Old Newton Burial Ground. Their poppy was placed on the grave of James Inglis. James Inglis. James served during the War of 1812 as a Captain. He reportedly was one of two Sussex County residents who “died in service of their country during wartime” during this war. James, born in Sussex County in 1775/76, was the son of William A. Inglis and Mary Margaret Margeson. James married Sarah Pettit on January 6, 1801 in Sussex. They had 4 children: Phebe, John Pettit, Mary Ann, and James J. James died on December 18, 1816 and is buried next to his daughter, Phebe. ... See More See Less
