ComStar Media, founded by former Crystal Cathedral senior pastor Robert A. Schuller and his son-in-law Chris Wyatt, today announced that the company has acquired FamilyNet Television and FamilyNet Radio.

According to a statement issued by ComStar Media, the parent of AmericanLife Television Network (ALN), the company will now extend its reach to 50 million households in the United States.

FamilyNet currently reaches 26 million television households. FamilyNet radio has 11 million subscribers through SIRIUS satellite radio. This acquisition will also provide ComStar access to a library of classic programming including family sitcoms such as “Happy Days” and “My Three Sons,” according to the statement.

Schuller’s own program, “ Everyday Life ,” premiered on ALN the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Schuller, the son of Crystal Cathedral founder Robert H. Schuller, joined hands with Wyatt after a family feud that led to his resignation from the megachurch and its international “Hour of Power” television broadcasts.

Schuller and Wyatt said ALN will present family-friendly programming. Both have said that the network will have Christian, spiritual programming as well, with subtle spiritual messages from the Bible that are relevant to everyday life in America.

The network recently broadcast two documentary films – “ The Third Jihad ” and “Obsession” – both about Islamic terrorists and their plans to overcome America and the Western world.

Wyatt said in his statement that their newest acquisitions are another step in the direction of quality, family programming.

“We are aggressively acquiring distribution and technology that will position us to become the premiere network in the increasingly important family market,” he said
