A gunman who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State killed 49 people and wounded 53 more in an attack at a crowded gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., early Sunday. It was the worst mass shooting in United States history.

Assault Rifle Is Among Weapons Used in Attack

At a news conference, Chief John Mina of the Orlando Police Department said the weapons recovered from the dead suspect included a handgun and an “AR-15-type assault rifle,” along with additional rounds.
