Red Bull Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has been commenting on Leeds United’s fans and the disappointment they have with their owner Massimo Cellino.

The German was speaking to Leipziger Volkszeitung about 1860 Munich. Fans at the 2. Bundesliga club are furious with the running of the club under the ownership of Jordanian businessman Hasan Abdullah Ismaik.

He used Leeds as the benchmark for fan unrest, relating to Cellino, and suggested that 1860 fans are even more disenchanted:

“The conditions that are there now, I cannot even find myself at Leeds United in England. And there is really someone at the helm there, who makes the fans cross every day. Ask the Leeds United fan’s how he (Cellino) is doing! But we’re not far away at 1860.”

Of course, Leeds have been linked with a takeover from Red Bull in the past, with whom Rangnick holds a high place in the sporting department.

In fact, back in April 2015, he told Leipziger Volkszeitung that Red Bull were not interested in buying Leeds.

Whilst there is still some fan unrest at Elland Road aimed toward Cellino the clubs good form and the recent investment from Andrea Radrizzani has softened the Leeds stance toward the Italian.

Leeds are fighting for promotion to the Premier League and Cellino has become much less of a public figure since the summer appointment of Garry Monk as head coach.
