Larkana Class Large Patrol Craft

PNS LARKANA is the first ever indigenously designed and developed fast patrol craft by Pakistan Naval Dockyard. She was commissioned in Pakistan Navy on 06 June 1994. The primary mission assigned to unit is patrolling and safeguarding the coastline of Pakistan. As of mid-2002, the only Larkana Class Large Patrol Craft built was the PNS Larkana P 157 boat. That boat was the first indigenously built large patrol craft starting in 1992, after being ordered in 1991. The vessel was commissioned in January 1994.

indigenously designed and developed by PN Dockyard, this 180 ton craft can be used for many purposes including coastal patrolling, salvage operation, harbour pollution control, ceremonial use, missile carrying boat, diving operations, stores carrier, personnel carrier, mine recovery, search and rescue operations, etc. This Craft is fitted with modern weapons and other equipment which include anti-aircraft guns, navigational radar, gyro, magnetic compass, echo sounder, wind speed indicator, communication systems, auto pilot, life saving boats etc and air-conditioned accommodation on board for 23 personnel.

Success of the design of this craft reportedly led the Navy into building of additional craft including missile launch capable variants. Two have reportedly already been commissioned and might be the Jalalat II Class Missile Boats.
