just saw a small discussion on
reddit
about inserting a section about
Bitcoin
and someone said it is already here. Ok, it got removed as we can see here
[1]
but the question is, also to prevent an edit war if we want such a section here.

So what about a section of decentralized cryptocurrencies, instead of specifically bitcoin?

- As I understand it, this article is about currencies used in foreign exchange markets and global money transactions, not about
private currencies
like Bitcoin. As far as I know, Bitcoin has no aspirations to be a world currency and is very unlikely to ever be one

- i am not sure if bitcoin can be called a private currency, since there is no "organisation" behind it that controls it anymore. and the beginning of this article says it is about currencies that are transacted internationaly, not that they are USED for exchange markets. (maybe the introduction of the article is not correct?)

^ Not sure why you would say that, Bitcoin is already a global currency, you can trade it worldwide, buy things online with it, and furthermore, it is now on Bloomberg terminals.

I think cryptocurrencies should most certainly be added to this page

A few more words about the role of Sterling in world trade from the early 19th century to ~WW2 would be beneficial. One sentence is a bit lean. if no one else fancies doing it, I'll dive in!
