When you build an Action for the Assistant, you design your conversations for a
variety of surfaces, such as a voice-centric conversation for voice-activated
speakers or a visual conversation on a surface that the Assistant supports. This
approach lets users get things done quickly through either voice or visual
affordances.
As you build your fulfillment, you can select from a variety of engaging
response types for the Assistant to present to users:
- Simple responses
: Simple responses take the form of a chat bubble visually
and use text-to-speech (TTS) or Speech Synthesis Markup Language (
SSML
)
for sound. Simple responses cannot be used on screen-only experiences, and
other response types always include at least one simple response.
- Rich responses
: Rich responses add visual or functional elements to a
simple response to enhance user interactions with your Action. With rich
responses, you can also display tabular data or play longer-form audio
content.
- Visual selection responses
: Visual selection responses provide a visual
interface for users to choose between multiple options that are most easily
differentiated by their title or by an image.
