X Trends appear alongside or within every customer’s timeline, and represent emerging popular topics. Trend Takeover occupies the top spot among a?customer’s trends, and can receive massive exposure. To ensure that?customers see trends that are legible and relevant, we've developed a set of editorial and content guidelines to which your Trend Takeover must comply.?

Editorial guidelines

  • X allows the fair use of trademarks in Trend Takeover names such as those used by resellers of authentic goods or services, for informational purposes such as product reviews, and for comparative advertising when supported by independent research. Trend Takeover names that feature trademarked brands in a way that mislead or confuse?customers with regard to their brand or business affiliation may be considered a trademark policy violation .?X reserves the right to decline to run advertising campaigns for any reason including, but not limited to, propensity to mislead or confuse?customers and/or degrade the?customer experience.
  • Your Trend Takeover may not contain excessive capitalization, as this can appear spammy to customers.
  • While Trend Takeover may contain punctuation, symbols, or spaces, please know that the same term will not trend organically. This is due to the fact that, except in Trend Takeover, including punctuation, symbols, or spaces in a hashtag will break up the hashtag. Numbers in hashtags are okay (e.g. #ToyStory3)
    • For example: you might create the?Trend Takeover #salt&pepper. If you then use #salt&pepper in an organic posts, the hashtag will appear as #salt. To ensure that your Trend Takeover is able to trend organically, do not include punctuation, symbols, or spaces in your Trend Takeover.
  • Your?Trend Takeover name length cannot exceed ~20 characters. Since not every character is the same width, your actual character limit will vary.

  • Alcohol advertisers targeting the UK are permitted to use this product, subject to restrictions.
  • Prior authorization from X is required.

U.S.

  • Daily Fantasy Sports ads are permitted with the following restrictions;
    • Disclaimers about age and state eligibility requirements are required
    • Information on gambling addiction hotline is required
    • No minors should be depicted?
    • No unfair or misleading representations of winning?
  • Sports Betting ads are permitted with the following restrictions;
    • No ability to place a bet in ad or on the landing page
    • No minors should be depicted
    • No unfair or misleading representations of winning
    • Disclaimers stating that sports betting is not legal in states where prohibited must be present?

Australia

  • Alcohol advertisers targeting Australia are permitted to use Trend Takeover+, subject to restrictions, and are only allowed with prior authorization from X.

Brazil

  • Brazilian alcohol advertisers are permitted to use this product, so long as alcoholic beverages have a strength less than 13%.

Japan

  • Gambling advertisers targeting Japan are permitted to use this product, subject to restrictions.
  • Prior authorization from X is required.

Mexico

  • Gambling advertisers are permitted to use this product, so long as they comply with the? Mexico Gambling Policy .
  • Alcohol advertisers targeting Mexico are permitted to use this product so long as they agree to our terms and conditions.

UK

  • Alcohol advertisers targeting the UK are permitted to use this product, subject to restrictions.
  • Prior authorization from X is required.

U.S.
