Share your docs on the go with the improved Google Docs for mobile

(Cross-posted from the Google Docs blog )

Google Docs is about collaboration, but as many of us know, others often rely on us even when we’re nowhere near a computer. That’s why we’re excited to bring the features you need to your tablet and mobile device’s browser. Today, we've updated the look of Google Docs for mobile browsers and added the ability to sort, narrow, and share multiple docs in your mobile docs list.

To get started, go to docs.google.com from your supported device ’s browser. Press Sort to organize the list of docs visible in the mobile browser, or press Narrow by to specify the subset of docs you’d like to see.

To share from your mobile docs list, select one or more documents, press the Share button, and select Share , Get the link to share for public or unlisted docs, or Email as attachment . Sharing a doc in your mobile browser works the same way as it does on the desktop.

We’re committed to improving the experience of accessing your docs from your mobile device. We’d love to hear what you think is working and what isn’t in our support forums as well as in the comments of this post.

We use Google Docs almost daily already where I work, so having it available on the go is going to be simply fantastic! I appreciate the easy to follow pictures and guide on how it works. Thank you Hossein Attar. :)

None of this matters. We need a native app with native editing. Stop wasting resources on this.

No, bring the features of the android app to the web then make native mobile apps. Google's about being inclusive not exclusive.

If you guys want to use a native app (for iOS) then just simply search "google docs" in the App Store and you'll find a ton of third party apps.

While I would prefer an official app, Google is lazy when it comes to launching apps for iOS, et al (Android is different story however).

I've used Google Docs for several projects and while the colaboration capabilities are very nice for my team, what prevents full adoption of it is too very simple issues:

1. No rich text editing available on portable devices (mobile web or native app). Not looking for a M$ Word replacement here, but do require the basics, bold, underline, headings, UL, OL, fontsize +/-, etc.

2. No official support of off-line documents on mobile devices that can be synced when prompted while in a network coverage area. While traveling overseas, all Google documents are inaccessible (or only briefly available at a rare public WiFi hotspot).

I'm quite shocked that these fundamental basic features are not yet implemented for Android devices. Get the basics to work first, then add the nice to have stuff later...

Have juts purchased my very first HTC Wildfire iPpome and directed to docs.google.com it was a little disappointing that it can not calculate the most basic of basic excel in a simple lit of my residential expenditures.

For example i went online to docs to create a excel doc with a list of shopping expenses then in the top field made a =sum(a3:a50) so i can keep adding to my lit and it bring a total up. It does not update in the iphone with a total it only update any editing i do to the list. Rendering all my used for the app useless!

Why i this happening?
